Careers take curious paths. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Michael owned and managed a restaurant after graduating from college. In 1991—after 13 years in the business—he sold the restaurant to a local restaurant chain. With the sale of the business behind him, Michael found himself migrating toward another client-service driven business—financial services. Today, Michael actively manages a diverse portfolio of clients from Rochester and Buffalo, as well serving as district manager for the Buffalo office of MassMutual Rochester.
At MassMutual Rochester, Michael is part of a team effort. “We really take a collaborative approach to address the complex financial issues that clients face every day, explains Michael in describing how his office operates. “Anyone can sell products, we sell service and solutions.” One of the most important qualities that distinguish Michael and his team from the competition is “a systematic review process that’s more than just an annual phone call to check in.”
Michael’s philosophy from day one has been to serve as a resource to his clients. “I think my clients would say that one of my strengths is that I really care and am responsive to their needs.” Clients who work with Michael know that when they work with him they also obtain access to his network of advisors, including legal and accounting professionals.
Michael and his team work primarily by word-of-mouth referral or introduction. “I take very seriously the confidence of clients who make referrals to us.” The common denominator with all of Michael’s clients is that they value what he values—establishing mutually beneficial relationships. “Our ideal client can be the owner of a professional services business, a retiree concerned about managing their retirement income or addressing long-term care needs, or families committed to ensuring a healthy financial future,” explains Michael. “We have the resources and knowledge in house to be of service to a diverse array of clients.”
Personal and Professional Affiliations
A sports enthusiast, Michael is active in fundraising for local charities, including Crohn’s and Colitis of Western New York. He is a member of Knights of Columbus, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and Buffalo Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Michael and his wife, Nancy, have five children and live in Kenmore, NY.
